–I went to the bookstore today to buy books and it was a strange feeling to be able to walk straight to the section where my books would be – passing lots of people with their schedules in their hands searching for the right books. It was even stranger to realize how many classes I’ve already taken for my major. In some ways it feels like I just started college ;)

–Yesterday my neice, Madalin, (4) came down the stairs and scared my mom and me. She was so excited to see us jump that she said, “I’m gonna do that again!” We laughed, and explained why it wouldn’t work. So then she said, “I want you to pretend to be scared!” ;)

–Our golden lab, Typhoon, has become very jumpy in his old age. If you have the slightest bit of excitement in your voice he will start barking. The other day while we were watching a movie one of the characters knocked on a door. Ty had fun with that! We had to let him outside to see who was there before we could start the show again. He has a very loud bark.(Well, we might not have had to let him out, but I did.)

–Today as I was watching big flakes of snow fall, I wondered, “At what point on their way down do they become snowflakes?”

–Of the many times I’ve moved apartments or had new roomates, this has been the easiest transition! :) Hurray!

–When you are in the underground section of the Harold B. Lee Library and it’s snowing outside you get to feel the thud of the snow plows overhead. I really wonder sometimes how many winters it will take before the ground gives in. (You should hear it sometime – I happens when the driver puts the shovel part down – you can feel the shake a little too. Boom!..Scraaaaape… Boom! (something like that))

–One of our favorite family past-times is quoting from movies or shows together. So when you go away on your own (aka back to school) sometimes the quotes continue in your head. Today I was laughing out loud to myself in the library (oh, don’t worry, if you know how quiet my voice is, you’ll know too that my laugh isn’t much louder) Anyway, after going to the bookstore, and not being able to buy all of my books – because my loan hasn’t gotten into my account yet – I was thinking “How’m I going to live until the bank reopens?” (It’s a Wonderful Life) and “Ray, Ray, Ray you have no money” (Field of Dreams). Anyway, it’s great fun!

–I’m going to start trying to write with less words – I mean I don’t want to keep being so wordy. There’s a part in the movie Amadeus, where someone tells Mozart that there are “too many notes” in one of his peices. Then he tells him to simply “cut a few”. As if it were that easy :)
